The Painters ChairDecember 11, 2013
This Friday we are welcoming some of Cornwall’s most interesting artists to the Heseltine Gallery, to a Charity Art Auction with an alternative twist.
The Painters Chair Charity Auction will see the Heseltine Gallery adorned with randomly selected chairs that have been painted, customised, radicalised and – in the opinion of some – vandalised, all in the name of art. Artists such as Anthony Frost, John O’Carroll and Rachael Reeves have put their own stamp on the chairs, from witty slogans to psychedelic colours.
Auctioneers are Anthony Frost and Bob Devereux and the free auction runs from 7pm to 9pm, with a pay bar. An abundance of seasonal goodwill and highly entertaining mayhem is guaranteed. A third of the auction proceeds and other monies raised will go to the participating artists’ choice of charities.
Afterwards there is an opportunity to enjoy Supper, Soprano and a Schmooze in the company of artists, with soprano star Caroline Childe and Jazz legends the Simon Latarche Quartet adding to the atmosphere. Tickets for this are still available – they are £20 in advance and can be bought by contacting Karen Aitken on 01872 246068.
