11 Mar

Truro School was thrilled to host the Cornwall Women’s Fund International Women’s Day event in the Heseltine Gallery. The gathering brought together a diverse range of 100 women from across Cornwall as well as parents and pupils and alumni to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The event opened with a panel discussion featuring leading figures such as Gillian Burke (BBC Springwatch), Vick Bain (Founder of the F List), sustainable fashion entrepreneur Uzma Bozai, and big brand data analyst Genevieve Flintham.

Attendees then heard about incredible projects from across Cornwall that have benefited from the Cornwall Women’s Fund. Highlights included a brilliant and moving performance by dancers from KBSK in Bodmin, an inspiring talk of friendship within STEM Community from Cognition Learning in Bude, a STEM organisation providing opportunities and experiences to young people across Cornwall and a presentation and uplifting playlist by Liz Eddy from Cornwall Music Services Trust.

The session concluded with a catwalk fashion show showcasing the powerful designs of sustainable fashion designer, Uzma Bozai, performed by our Truro School Pupils

Pupil Ruby who took part in the fashion show said : “I really enjoyed taking part in the fashion show although it was a bit scary. I’ve also really enjoyed finding out about the projects Cornwall Women’s Fund has supported.”
